Security for Tourists visiting Arugambay enhanced

As peace returns to the country and Sri Lanka becomes a holiday destination, it does not mean tourist industry would boom rapidly. There are several problems round the corner for preventing tourists to visit a destination. Main cause of tourist concern is their safety and security.” Says A.M.Jaufer, President of  Chamber of Tourism & Industry Sri Lanka.  “Developing tourist infrastructure facilities alone is also not enough. Tourists should be well received and allowed them to enjoy their holidaying in Sri Lanka.”further added.

A.M.Jaufer, President of Chamber of Tourism has taken initiative to bring this matter into the notice of the Law enforcement authorities specially Tourist Police to make tourist sites specially in the Eastern Province for tourists to visit without fear and any harassment.

In this regard, Police Tourist Division has organized a special meeting headed by SSP Cicil de Silva, Director, Police Tourist Division recently at Arugambay. CI Nayanapriya Edirisinghe, Officer in Charge of Police Tourist Division, IP Senanayake and SI Nishantha of Pottuvil Police, A.M.Jaufer. President, Chamber of Tourism.,  and several other stakeholders of tourism industry in Arugambay area were present at the meeting and arrangements for strengthening of security for tourists visiting Arugambay area were  discussed.
